A recording of wind whipping by. (warning: loud!) it was made by putting the microphone close to a car window as it was driving. It sounds rather like a strong wind storm or hurricane. :-) taken with a black sony ic digital voice recorder.

I was looking for cicada sounds online and couldn't find one that sounded like the ones here. . . However i got lucky and eventually was able to get a nice, clean recording of one! recorded using a sony ic recorder out my house. Processed in fl studio to remove noise.

Sounds of a busy new york city playground, including children playing, parents speaking various languages, background traffic and airplanes, and an ice-cream cart. Recorded in sunset park, brooklyn, ny. May 5 2022.

Made for the ice-breaker collab. Simple mournful loop with deep kick, flute and strings. Tempo=90 bpm. An arpegiated supersaw over drone effect (wollo drone) repeats 3 times. First iteration includes a melody played as a flute. Second iteration of the loop has the flute replaced with a full string section. Third time around, it's just the arp and drone. All three versions of the loop have a deep, reverberating and mellow kickdrum. Sounds tribal(-ish). Created in flstudio 11. 04 with virtual instruments and vst eq + reverb.

This is a foley fireplace. Recorded with the blue snowball ice in audacity. I layered the sounds together using audacity. This recording consists of two tracks of a smarties candy wrapper (for the crackling), one track of sticky-tac being pulled apart (the popping), and one track of jeans being rubbed together for some extra sound. A meaty glass impact with some cracks forming afterward. Perfect sound for when the glass object breaks, or is nearly broken by some heavy metal object. Made by hitting a porcelain plate with a metal spoon, then crushing up some aluminium foil and ice chunks in my hand. The sound files were then pitch shifted and merged in audacity.

Since snow has been so widespread, thought it would be a good time to stockpile the beautiful crunchy, crisp sound of walking on it. This field-recording was taken inside of a high-capacity wagon of the ic-train 2374 starting at the station darmstadt in direction of frankfurt. The wagon was rather empty, but two passengers can often be heard talking during this recording. Many different sounds and noises are heard during different driving situations of the train. The recording was started on 4th january 2023 at 10:23 cet shortly before the closing of the doors and the departure of the train in darmstadt. At 01:16 an announcement can be heard. The recording was made with the mid-prize smartphone huawei p10 lite.

I made this recording by using a metal shovel and ramming it into the icy snow. The snow has been around for a couple months now and has been rained on and turned to tiny ice crystals. It sounds like it could be sand, grainy dirt or rock dust.

This is my attempt to emulate the sound of the harmony 64 chimes that can be heard on some ice cream trucks. I used a single note from a low-quality recording from a demo of the chimes for the base synth then cleaned up the audio using audacity and set the starting pitch to "c". I then composed a short variation of a well-known song (bicycle built for two in this case). It's a sound you usually can hear in a horror movie. It makes your blood freeze if it wasn't ice already. It has medium attack and very long decay. The sound's timbre is similar to what a metal gong could do when hit inside a cathedral. Synthesized with zynaddsubfx inside lmms. Rendered as 96khz/32-bit. Edited and normalized in audacity.

. . Inside an intercity express (ice) between stuttgart and mannheim, sitting in an almost empty (three passengers) second-class broad-spaced compartment at around 9 pm. After a shaky first minute an even part follows for around 90 seconds. Interrupted by some road holes the steady sound continues, now with the frequency of the engine sound rising until the beginning of the fourth minute. Here the "main part" begins, starting with several moments of acceleration, deceleracion and breaking. From minute 5:15 to 7:35 the train reaches it's peak velocity, with only few bumps. After a short deceleration the train inceases velocity again, reaching a second peak, this time noticeably bumpier. Once in a while you can hear some element of the fitments rattling nervously along the track, depending on the constitution of the railways and the overall situation. During the last two minutes the train keeps on decelerating slowly and continuously until the end. Recorded in stereo with a portable stereo recorder (zoom); enhanced in audacity using a parallel dynamic eq (tdr nova), a compressor (vos density mkiii) and a binaural spacializer (auburn panagement).
